(Scottsdale, AZ) – On August 3, 2024, Maricopa County erased the July 30th Primary Election Day Results from 9 to 20 Vote Centers and conducted an illegal recount of those Election Day ballots. The crime occurred at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) and was recorded on their website live video feed.
During the Board of Supervisors Primary Canvass meeting on August 12, 2024, Scott Jarrett, the Director of In-Person Voting & Tabulation, was asked about this illegal recount. He admitted, “There were a few Vote Centers where we found a ‘discrepancy.’ At that point in time, we backed out the results that were reported on election night, ran in the ballots, all the ballots that returned to us with the Black Canvas Bags.”
Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) 16-662 is the only legal means of recounting previously tabulated and counted ballots and the Superior Court in Maricopa County must approve, issue a court order and oversee all recounts. Jarrett and Maricopa County have no authorization to disregard and eliminate election results from the Voting Centers on Election Day or to recount previously tabulated and counted ballots to resolve any “discrepancies.”
At approximately 2:28pm MST, Jarrett takes a cart of Black Bags containing previously tabulated and counted Election Day ballots from the Ballot Vault and brings them to the Tabulation Floor.
He and a team of election workers then proceed to empty 18 to 20 Black Bags & run the ballots through the tabulators, conducting an illegal recount and new elections for 9 to 20 Vote Centers.
They then increased the Election Day Ballot Totals for the election results published on Aug 3 & Aug 5.
Erasing election results and conducting illegal recount elections are a pattern with Maricopa County. On November 11, 2022, previous Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Gates appeared on CNN and discussed the “commingling” of counted & uncounted ballots at two Vote Centers during the Nov 8th Election. “As to Blake Master’s (candidate for U.S. Senate) suggestion that we should ‘wipe the slate clean and start counting over again,” said Gates, “that is simply not allowed for under Arizona law.” Ironically, days later Maricopa erased Election Day Results from 44 Vote Centers and illegally recounted all of those ballots, “reporting” 51,694.
Lawsuits need to be filed immediately. Unfortunately, the candidates, legislators, Maricopa County Republican Committee, AZ GOP, RNC and election “integrity” groups are silent. They said they would “fight for free and fair elections.” They took millions of dollars in donations. The People of America need to hold them all accountable.
